Every Wednesday - in July and August – a hike through alpine pastures to the exhibition cheese dairy

Times are past when many people turned up their nose at it. Today cheese is an extremely popular food, and healthy into the bargain. Dairymaid Traudi Gruber from Bad Hofgastein knows this too and lives on the Haitzingalm in summer where the cows can graze on succulent pastures and where she keeps up the tradition of cheese and butter making. Every Wednesday in July and August she shows how genuine, natural cheese can be made according to old family recipes. Anyone who wants to can of course join in.
Programme: 8.30 a.m. meeting place is Bad Hofgastein Tourist Association; ascent together up the Kleine Scharte (2,050 m); walk to the rustic Haitzingalm hut; exhibition cheese dairy and cosy get-together over a cheese snack; descent with the Schlossalm lift.

Every Friday - from 20th June to 12th September – Alm hike on the Stubnerkogel

On Fridays hikers regularly meet for an alm hike with a real alm-style snack. The destination is either the Zittrauer or the Stubner Alm. Ascent is with the Stubnerkogel lift.

Programme:
  • ascent together with the Stubnerkogel lift to the summit station (2,246 m), explanation of the panorama
  • steady hike to the Zittrauer or Stubner Alm (approx. 2 hours)
  • cosy get-together over a typical snack
  • and descent with the Stubnerkogel lift
