Hiking Tips Stubnerkogel - Bad Gastein
1. Böcksteiner Höhenweg High Path – Half day walk, good head for heights needed on some parts, strong shoes
- Walking time: 3 hours
- Difference in altitude: way up 80 m, way down approx. 500 m
- Starting and finishing points: Middle station of the Stubnerkogel lift, Finish: Altböckstein – Bus stop
This half day walk is only recommended in nice weather conditions. Take
the Stubnerkogel lift to the middle station (1,785m). An easy uphill
walk to the Zittrauer Hochalm. A few metres below the Zittrauer Hut a
marked path leads towards the Böckfeldalm (1,538). This leads very
steeply downhill in parts, but the beautiful views of the valley
towards Böckstein are a fantastic reward for the effort. A forest path
leads from the Böckfeldalm to Altböckstein (famous miner’s settlement,
well known Pilgrimage Chapel).
2. Walk to Bockhart Lake - Towards Sportgastein a good head for heights is needed in parts
- Walking time: 5 - 6 hours
- Difference in altitude: way up 270 m, way down approx 900 m
- Starting point: Stubnerkogel Mountain Lift Station
- Finish: Sportgastein bus stop
Whole day tour good strong shoes necessary.
Take the Stubnerkogel lift to the mountain station. Walk towards the
Zittrauertisch from here there is a short way downhill to the right;
the last part goes steeply uphill, to the southerly situated
Miesbichl-Scharte. Then afterwards walk downhill to the lower
Bockhartsee (reservoir) lake to Sportgastein. You can add 1½ hours onto
this walk, by walking from the lower Bockhartsee Lake along the marked
path to the romantically situated Upper Bockartsee Lake (natural lake).
3. Panorama walk to the Angertal valley - easy valley walk, especially recommended for families
- Walking time: 4 hours
- Difference in altitude: 1000 m
- Starting point: Mountain lift station or middle lift station of the Stubnerkogel
- Finish: Angertal Valley bus stop
Take the Stubnerkogel lift to the mountain station. After leaving the
mountain lift station walk south along a small path, which ends at the
middle lift station after several bends. Just underneath the middle
lift station the path leads into the Anger Valley.
